Locking the Performance Review and Approval Organizational Structure

The reporting structure in the Direct Report OSM tree (or Performance Management OSM tree, if one exists) determines which manager reviews and approves each employee's performance. The employee's reporting manager in the hierarchical tree reviews that employee's performance and submits the review for approval.

The OSM tree automatically "locks" just prior to the Draft and Approval period to freeze the current reporting structure thereby determining which manager reviews which employee. However, you can lock the tree at any time to ensure that the most relevant managers are reviewing the employees. You can do this for either a Standard Corporate Schedule or for any Group Review Schedule that was created.

Your company is undergoing a restructuring one month prior to the performance review and approval period. You need to lock down the organizational structure in the OSM tree before it automatically locks at the start of the review period. This ensures that the employees' current managers review them for the past year's performance and not any subsequent managers who have been newly assigned to the employees.

To lock the OSM tree in either a Standard Corporate Schedule or a Group Review Schedule:

1.   On the Management Navigation Bar, click HR ADMINISTRATION > Applications > Performance ManagementHR ADMINISTRATION > Applications > Performance Management.

The Performance ManagementPerformance Management page displays.

2.   Select the Performance Administrator ViewPerformance Administrator View radio button.

New options display on the page.

Note: If you do not have Performance Administrator rights, this radio button will not be visible.

3.   Click the Schedule and Allocation Budget SetupSchedule and Allocation Budget Setup link under Performance Setup.

The Schedule and Allocation Budget SetupSchedule and Allocation Budget Setup page displays.

4.   Click the View button on the row of the schedule for which you want to lock the OSM tree.

5.   Click the Lock button.

6.   Click the Save button.

Result: The reporting structure reflected in the Performance Management OSM tree at the time of the lock determines who reviews and approves each employee's performance.

Note: If you did not set up a separate Performance Management OSM tree, this locks the Direct Report OSM tree.
